Patrol Angis - the Retained Knights

I discovered The Ion Age a while ago and really liked the retro feel of the minis. It was almost a full year before I finally pulled the trigger and bought some. I picked up some Khanate Legionnaires and Retained Knights from Nobleknight Games, the U.S. suppliers. They are an excellent company to deal with. Then the Khanate Return Book came out and I pre-ordered it. The service from The Ion Age in Scotland is incredible, usually get packages within 8 or 9 days. The game title is Patrol Angis and eventually I'm going to push some lead and throw some bones with them. I thought I'd share some pictures of some of the finished stuff.

First up are the Retained Knights of Prydia:

A few special characters.

Retained Lance

Retained Duxis Battlesuits Lance. Still have 3 more Battlesuits to paint.

Retained Knights

Duxis Battlesuits
Afara Walker
Corbal Deployable Handprint

A few of the pictures are blurry, sorry about that. I really love these minis and I have actually collected all the available Retained Knights. All except the Strategist that comes in the Lance pack. The Lance pack was out of stock at Noble Knight Games at the time and I decided to just pick up the individual posts instead. Still have more painting to do to finish them up. I also want to eventually get a couple of Mullos and the Taranis Main Battle Tank.  I'll put up pictures of the Khanate in another post.

Rangers always get their man

It'd been a long trail across the panhandle. The Cap'n had got us close a couple of times, but no dice. Then the trail went cold. But the Cap'n always seemed to find one more clue to keep us goin'. It weren't 'til we crossed into Arizona territory that we got a fresh rumor on these varmits. Just goes ta show, you can't never out run the law. Specially if'n you killed a Rangers kin. Slick Dan an his boys was holed up at the Three Trails Saloon in Sweetwater. It was time for a showdown...

The Rangers:
The Cap'n rep5 pistol
Bobby Lee rep4 pistol
Earl rep4 pistol
Wallis rep4 rifle
The New Guy rep3 pistol

The Outlaws:
Slick Dan rep5 pistol
Dirty Steve rep4 pistol
Big Mike rep 4 pistol
Longman Lenny rep4 rifle
The Kid rep3 pistol

The Rangers call out Slick Dan and his boys. The first Activation roll went to the Rangers.

The Cap'n fired at Big Mike causing him to duck back by the corner of the saloon. Next Bobby Lee shot Slick Dan, putting him out of the fight. The fire from Earl and Wallis chased The Kid, Dirty Steve into the livery stable offices and The New Guy forced Longarm Lenny into the stable proper.

Even with things looking grim, the Outlaws were game for trading lead. All except Longarm Lenny. He ran long, far and fast to Mexico. The shooting from the remaining Outlaws didn't faze the Rangers at all. They quickly dispatched Big Mike and forced The Kid and Dirty Steve to duck back further into the office.

The two remaining Outlaws decided to take their chances in court. After all, Slick Dan would be locked up with them and he had lots of friends that could break them out before they were hanged...

Another fun game with Six Gun Sound. Stay tuned. There may be a jail break coming.

Howdy ya'll,

Thought I would share some pictures of Sweetwater, my small old west town. It took me awhile to finally get these done, but after I started it went quickly. The buildings and minis are from 15mm Bluemoon. I like them a lot. Once done they look nice and stand up to handling well. The roofs are removable and if you're motivated enough, Bluemoon has a furniture pack so you can do the interiors. I am not motivated enough I guess. The only interior I did was in the saloon.

Hope you like Sweetwater. Hopefully there will be some action there soon...

Gunfight at the OK Corral

This fight would be more appropriately called "The gunfight in the vacant lot on Freemont Street, a block over from the OK Corral". But history is what it is... Anyway, I finally read through the rules Six Gun Sound by Two Hour War games. I have played Nuts! a few times so I am already familiar with the game mechanics. If you aren't familiar with THW games you should be. Especially if you game solo. THW rules are easy and fun. You can make them as complicated or as simple as you want. But, onto the game.

It was a normal day in Tombstone, then word spread. The Earps and the Clantons were about to have it out. Freemont street emptied pretty quick when Wyatt, his brothers and Doc Holiday headed toward the lot where the Clantons and McLaurys were waiting. (Billy Claiborne was missing this time around, basically because I forgot him).

The Earps only intended to disarm the cowboys.

Virgil confronts Ike and demands they turn over their guns. I decided anything but two successes on the Talk the Talk chart was a failure. With a Rep of 5 it should have been easy. Virgil only passed one...  It went down hill quick.

With the talking done I went to the Draw table and both sides opened fire. Things went almost historically. The McLaurys died as did Billy Clanton, Ike Clanton ducked back. Doc and Virgil both ducked back into cover, which would have been helpful in the real fight.

With both sides having shot at one another they rolled on the Reaction Test table (the Earps going to the Shot At column and Ike also had to compare his roll on the Man Down table as well) The Earps and Doc stood their ground. Ike ran like the coward he was....

All in all it was a very short game, all told about 10 minutes with set up. It was fun though. The best part of these rules is, you never know how your enemy will react. It is always a possibility they will fight on. Especially if they have a high enough Rep.

Hello

So, since Photobucket is holding pictures for ransom these days I thought I'd try a blog. My hope is to put up posts about my gaming adventures. I don't plan on cluttering up the blog with opinions on current affairs, unless it pertains to my gaming. I'm sure no one is interested in my opinion on much of anything, and truth be told, I don't much want to read others opinions either. This is about tabletop gaming, and in the case of historical games, maybe a little history behind the game (actually my Sci-Fi gaming has a cool background and that history will be hit on a bit as well. I hope you'll like what you see and maybe comment on it.
